Vilnius Cooperative College is one of the oldest schools of economics in Lithuania. Its predecessor was Kaunas School of Economics founded in Kaunas in 1930. During the years of German occupation the school was closed but after the war it renewed its activities.
On 1 December 1945, Kaunas School of Economics was subordinated to the Union of Lithuanian Consumer Cooperatives (currently KB Lietuvos Kooperatyvų Sąjunga, Union of Lithuanian Cooperatives).
In 1946, Kaunas Cooperative College was established on the basis of the former Kaunas School of Economics; the Department of Extramural Studies was set up in 1954. In 1948, the first students graduated from Kaunas Cooperative College.
In 1956 following the resolution of Lietkoopsąjunga (Union of Lithuanian Cooperatives) Board, an academic building was erected in Vilnius and training facility was transferred from Kaunas to Vilnius. Foodstuff managers and manufactured goods managers, accountants, economists planners, food technologists and commerce organisers were trained at Vilnius Cooperative College.
In 1964, Kaunas Extramural Cooperative College was established on the basis of which a vocational school was operating; waiters, barmen, checkout operators and confectioners were trained there.
In 1991, Vilnius High Cooperative School was established following the reorganisation of former Vilnius Cooperative College. Specialists in business management, accounting and office administration were trained there.
In 1991, Kaunas Commercial Cooperative School was set up on the basis of former Kaunas Extramural Cooperative College. In 1995, it was reorganised into Kaunas High Cooperative School.
In 1999, the Ministry of Education and Science in association with the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education declared said school as one of the best non-state schools in Lithuania.
Vilniaus Kooperacijos Kolegija (Vilnius Cooperative College) under the present name was established on 1 September 2000 on the basis of Vilnius High Cooperative School (Lithuanian Government Resolution No. 1001 of 30 August 2000 granted said school a licence to establish a non-state college).
In 2001, the reorganised Kaunas High Cooperative School was subordinated to Vilnius Cooperative College, and Kaunas Campus of Vilnius Cooperative College was set up.

In 2005, College activities were positively evaluated by international e
xperts as well as the Accreditation Committee for Colleges of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education.
Since 2007, College graduates have been awarded professional bachelor’s degrees.
Vilnius Cooperative College is one of the largest non-state colleges in Lithuania. Business managers, economists and accountants for private companies, state enterprises or other organisations have been trained in this College.
