| European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) |
The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) was developed by the Commission of the European Communities in order to provide common procedures to guarantee academic recognition of studies abroad. The ECTS provides a way of measuring and comparing learning achievements and transferring them from one institution to another. The ECTS system is based on three core elements: information (on study programmes and student achievement), mutual agreement (between the partner institutions and the student), and the use of ECTS credits (to indicate student workload).
